How to Make Filled Candies
There are several different kinds of filled candies you can make: peppermint patties, peanut butter fillies, cherry cordials and more. Here we’ll show you how to make molded candies using Make’n Mold® candy molds filled with surprisingly easy candy centers you can make yourself.
Peanut Butter Filled
Melt candy wafers. Use a paintbrush from the Make’n Mold painter’s palette to completely coat the bottom and sides of any Make’n Mold candy mold with melted wafers. Chill 1-2 minutes.
Meanwhile, beat together 1 cup margarine, 4 cups confectioners sugar and 14 ounces of smooth peanut butter until well-blended.
Press mixture into each mold cavity. Cover the filling with melted wafers, using either a spoon or a Make’n Mold squeeze bottle. Chill mold for 10-15 minutes.
Hint: Do not press too much filling into the coated candy mold. Allow room for mold cavity to be filled with melted wafers.
Peppermint Filled
Melt candy wafers. Use a paintbrush from the Make’n Mold painter’s palette to completely coat the bottom and sides of any Make’n Mold candy mold with melted wafers. Chill 1-2 minutes.
Meanwhile, beat together 2 tablespoons butter, 1¼ cup confectioners sugar, ½ teaspoon peppermint oil and ¼ cup light corn syrup until mixture becomes a smooth dough.
Press the dough into each mold cavity. Cover the filling with melted wafers, using either a spoon or a Make’n Mold squeeze bottle. Chill mold for 10-15 minutes.
Cherry Cordials
Melt candy wafers. Use a paintbrush from the Make’n Mold painter’s palette to completely coat the bottom and sides of Make’n Mold Cherry Cordial candy mold with melted wafers. Chill 1-2 minutes.
Meanwhile, mix together 2½ cups confectioners sugar and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract by hand. Add 1/3 cup heavy cream. Stir until dough reaches a consistency similar to pie dough.Cut each of the cherries from one bottle of maraschino cherries in half and blot with a paper towel to dry. Wrap a small amount of dough around each cherry half . Roll between your hands to form the shape of a ball.
Press each ball into a mold cavity. Cover with melted wafers, using either a spoon or a Make’n Mold squeeze bottle. Chill mold for 10-15 minutes.
